Middle of January

It's already past the middle of January and I just got around to changing my blog background.  Whoops.  I was still looking at an orange fall themed page.  That is pretty much the story of our lives right now.  See those two adorable gifts from God pictured above?  That picture was taken at the end of November.  That is where my focus is.  And rightly so.  But last night as my stuffy head hit the pillow I told Scott I wanted nothing more than to check into a hotel with a bottle of NyQuil, movies on demand, and room service for just a couple of days.  Dreamy.

But, back to reality.  Christmas and the Sinclair birthday week has come and gone.  Lots of travel, lots of fun and now I am happy to report we're back to same old same old for awhile.  Well, sort of.  Our weekends are still interrupted by our dear friend Ben (we love him so) who is magically turning our electrical nightmares into heavenly lights and most importantly safe wiring.  Bless him.  A few more weekends and we'll move from those tasks to other projects in our house hobby.

Quick updates...Jacob is super excited to be four.  This kid smiles and the room lights up.  He makes us laugh.  I love seeing the world through his eyes.  Everything is exciting.  He wakes up dry and can get himself dressed in the morning (except for the fact we need to get his closet in order so he can reach his shirts).  He's sweet and sensitive.  (Like his dad).  And sometimes sassy and gets frustrated.  (Like his mom).  He is the world's best negotiator and staller.  (We've created this I am sure but aren't really sure how to fix it).  He is really trying so hard to be a good listener and do things right away when told.  Mom is trying so hard to be patient.  But monster trucks and silly games are so much more fun than doing anything that mom asks you to do.  He has been sleeping so much better.  Maybe in part to his new snuggly mattress cushion thing.  Maybe because we've dropped his nap.  (This has proven to be very challenging on more than one occasion but the fact he is sleeping through the night again is worth it!)  Maybe because he doesn't sleep in hot pajamas anymore.  Maybe because he isn't getting leg aches.  Maybe because God has answered our prayers for restful sleep.  Whatever the reason, I will take it.  And more than likely it isn't one specific thing but I am happy to be in a "pretty good sleep" phase again.  Although, this morning he did wake early and called out for me.  This morning at breakfast I asked him what woke him up.  He told me a dream of a dinosaur.  A scary one.  With spikes.  And then we started a conversation about dinosaurs and where they live.  I started to try to explain extinction to a 4 year old.  I ended up saying they all died.  He concluded that they are buried in the cemetery - probably the one we drive by.

Nathan is 7 1/2 months.  What!?  This kid is the epitome of happiness.  Last week he slept through the night for 2 nights in a row.  It was awesome.  But like I suspected he was gearing up for some not so great sleep.  I think he is working on his top teeth and fighting a cold like the rest of us.  Despite that, he is still our little chill dude and even when he is fussing for one reason or another he stops in the middle of it to smile.  He's rolling like a pro now and eating a few simple fruits and veggies.  We're still in the very smooth texture phase though.  We aren't in a huge hurry to get him to eat food (as you can tell he's thriving just fine).  He has found his voice and makes really funny facial expressions.  I have a video that I would really like to post but for some technological reason I can't upload video from my newer camera to the blog.  I should just get my older camera back out for video.  We have so much cute footage of Jacob and we love to go back and watch it.  I don't want to miss capturing Nathan as well!  Anyway, he's doing great and he loves watching his big brother as well as the cats.  Just wait until he is on the move.  I see a frustrated, toy hiding Jacob as well as some cats heading for the hills in our near future.

Scott is off and running into the new year.  He's taking care of business and being his hard-working, entrepreneurial self.  The business outlook is promising and he continues to amaze me with his perseverance and drive.  He is our rock.  Seriously.  He's also started running...literally.  And spinning.  And getting back into shape.

As for myself...one of these days I will get back to the gym and that long "I would like to do this" list.  For now, I have written a blog post and spent the last hour in complete silence with the exception of the keyboard tapping.  That hasn't happened in a very long time and it was lovely.
