North Shore trip

Scott and I had a fantastic trip to Two Harbors. After 10 months of being quite busy it was a strange but much welcomed feeling to be able to sleep in, read, relax, and reconnect with 7 meals (completely uninterrupted other than the server attending to our needs) and plenty of time for hiking, walking along the beach, and searching for agates. We were only away for two nights, but it is amazing how recharged we felt after just a short amount of time.

Jacob had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa Jacobson. I'm not even sure he realized that we were away.

We're back to the regular routine but already looking forward to our next getaway!

Pumpkin carving party

Peter peter pumpkin eater

Last Saturday we enjoyed a beautiful fall afternoon at the apple orchard / pumpkin patch in search of the great pumpkin. We all found one suitable to our carving needs. We went on a hayride pulled by a tractor to and from the patch which I am pretty sure was Jacob's favorite part of the day.

Stats and update

Jake is quite the funny boy these days. He likes to have his alone time in his crib where he talks to his lamb, giraffe, and monkey. He usually needs to catch up with them before falling asleep. He seems to have grown quite fond of his snuggly blankie as well. He's starting to jabber quite a bit - he's figured out da da (whether he relates it to dad we're not sure), but no ma ma yet. He sings (or at least tries to), has figured out how to make his voice go up and down, and laughs. This kid laughs a lot. Sometimes for no reason. I will be driving and he will be in his car seat...and he will just start giggling.
Speaking of car seats...we just ordered a new, bigger one and can't wait to get it! He fights us with the car seat we have...he's just too squished.
We've been going to the YMCA almost every day. He loves it. Most days he goes to the kids care (which I am SO thrilled with...the staff is amazing and the facility is gorgeous) but as soon as he walks by the pool and sees the sparkling blue water through the big glass window he screams. Literally screams with excitement. He starts his Sea Turtle parent/child class in November.
He had his well check last week. He's 18 1/2 lbs and 28 inches long. He's still on the lower end of the percentile for height and weight...but his head is still right up there in the 90th percentile. He cut his upper left tooth like we had thought, and his newest foods are yogurt and Cheerios. I was a bit worried that he might have a dairy sensitivity like Scott, but he did great with the yogurt as far as I can tell and loved it. Hopefully I will be able to switch him over to whole milk with no problems when the time comes.
That's about it for now. We're having a pumpkin carving party this weekend so we'll update you after the festivities.
Ciao ciao!

Sitting on the dock of the Mississippi

Sarah came over last week for the day and we took Jacob down to the river. He thought the seagulls were a lot of fun to watch.

Daddy's back!

Okay, dad didn't really go anywhere except to the Chocolate Factory where he goes everyday. He just had to work A LOT! Now he is back on a much more enjoyable schedule. He gets to be home with me and Mom on Fridays, Saturdays, AND Sundays. At least for this next month. Whoo hoo!

This is why I'm not crawling yet...

It is way more comfortable hanging out on my back. Just like my dad. You know...we're just chillin' out as they say. Crawling? Boring. I can roll and squirm just fine. I'm thinking about walking. Seems much more efficient and I have a much better view standing upright. I haven't decided which I will try next. Time will tell. I've got to go my mom's calling me. See you later alligator! Love, Jacob
